Day 2: Beijing
Visit Beijing’s most famous attraction, the Great Wall of China. With construction commencing more than 2,000 years ago, it stretches 5,000km from the Shanhaiguan Pass on the east coast to the Gobi Desert in the west. After lunch you will visit the 15thcentury Temple of Heaven, including the Hall of Prayer for Good Harvests. The temple is one of the most important representations of Ming architecture, set in a 267 hectare park with four gates that are set at each point of the compass. Take a stroll through the park, and observe many groups of locals that gather here daily to join singing and dancing groups, practice tai chi or to visit with friends. (B,L)
